Description
As the 49ers wrap up their 75th season in San Francisco, for the long time fan this program of the 49ers vs. Green Bay Packers on December 19, 1965 could be of interest. This program celebrated the 20th year of the 49ers existence and paid tribute to the first 49er team from 1946. There are two photos of the 1946 team and another photo of the 1946-1965 alumni. Along with this is a roster of the original 49er team. Since this was a current game day program the rosters of the 49ers and Packers of the day are also listed. There are also short bios of key popular players on the 1965 team such as Dave Wilcox, Matt Hazeltine, George Mira, John David Crow and others. Many of the advertisers are interesting as some of the businesses are still going strong and others are just a memory. An item of note is that several of the players were in advertisements as employees for regional businesses as this was the era of low pay and off season jobs were necessary for most. One interesting advertisement is Western Airline’s airfare from San Francisco to LA for .50 plus tax. This coincides with the price of 50¢ for this program that some fan paid back then.
The program has 46 pages and is completely intact but does show shelf wear as it is 55 years old. Please see photos and email with questions.
