Antique Vintage Hickory Shaft R B Wilson St Andrews Deep Face Driving Putter F1

This item is a 36" right handed antique vintage hickory shafted putter. It is marked R B Wilson OK Special Made In Scotland. One of St Andrews premier club makers. This is an early smooth face putter with a vary deep face. Often called a driving putter. The ones you normally see were made by Spalding. ca 1890s.
The head is clean and in good vintage condition. Yes it has the
expected
play nicks and dings.
Please look at the many zoom pictures to get a better idea of condition. The shaft is the original old hickory. It is marked R B Wilson St Andrews. It has a St Andrews bend, I see no cracks, and it is tight at the hosel. I see a small grain chip in the shaft right at the hosel. All hickory shafted clubs should be re-set prior to play. The grip is an old built up long leather wrap that is in fair
condition. An unusually heavy F 1 swingweight for gutty play.
If you are considering playing with this club, while I see no issues with this hickory shaft (other than those mentioned above), I suggest that whipping be added just above the hosel to help prevent breakage. These hickory shafts often have hidden defects and are liable to break at any time. I do not guarantee hickory shafts against breakage when put into play. Never hit an old hickory shafted club off a driving range mat. Never hit an old hickory shafted wood with a hard range ball.
