Revanth Reddy’s praise for Asaduddin Owaisi: Voice of the poor in Parliament

Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy on Saturday praised Hyderabad MP and All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) chief Asaduddin Owaisi, calling him the only MP from the state who constantly speaks for the poor in parliament.
Speaking at the launch event of the book Prophet for the World in Hyderabad, the Congress leader appreciated the MP’s “relentless work for the welfare of marginalised communities” and called him the “voice of the poor”.
“Even when he spoke against Congress, I liked it because our own brother (from Hyderabad) is raising his voice. If somebody speaks against us, he doesn’t become our enemy. There may be some mistakes in running a government. To correct those mistakes, we need a strong opposition, whether in the state or the country,” the Chief Minister said.
At different occasions, Owaisi has strongly criticised Congress over several issues, especially those concerning the Muslim community.
The Telangana Chief Minister further stated at the event that collective efforts should be made to counter attempts to spread hatred in the country.
Reddy noted that the essence of the teachings of Prophet Muhammad, the Gita, and the Bible is to ensure peace in the country and the world, saying, “We should all stand together to stop those who are trying to spread poison”.
“India is our country, and it is our responsibility to safeguard it. No one else will come to save the country. There’s nothing wrong with trying to win elections, but we should guard against people who spread poison to win,” he said.
The Chief Minister observed that the number of those who speak for the people has decreased in the Lok Sabha, while speeches spreading hatred have increased.
